Author's Comments

As a child, I roamed with Grandpa on his farm. I loved the woods, the rail fences, the wheat fields, the orchard, and the pasture. I used them to study the layout and make the map of the farm in the book, Search for a Fawn. Like Grandpa in the story, my grandpa cracked hickory nuts and helped us find a fawn—but not an albino.

Reviews

"Search for a Fawn is a delicately written book about the meaning of brotherhood. It explores in a sensitive manner the way two brothers learn to accept a younger stepbrother while dealing with the loss of their grandfather. It is guaranteed to tug one's heartstrings and should be shared with all children."
